as long as it's transfered legally, why wouldn't it be ok ?
There's another raffle for a SWD M11/9 on another board as well.
300 tickets at $50 ea, more $$$ but better odds.
Now how long will it take to sell those tickets, no one knows.
that's good $$$ too:
300@50 = $15,000 (that's a nice M16 w/goodies)
400@20 = $8,000 (that's a nice Uzi w/goodies)
"I'd rather be a disabled Vet, than no Vet at all"
And I just got an e-mail from Gun Broker for the same thing. $20.00 for a chance at an M-11/9mm. SWD. [poke] Hmmm, lots of people doing the same thing all at once. I wonder what's up. Karl. :cool:
Why not then? :mrgreen: Wifey said ok, I spend more then that on scratch tickets in a month, and never win, so I bought 2. I have good luck with worse odds in my online contests. Only difference is those are free. [poke] I already have a nice spot in the safe for it. [postal]
Did some research on them a while back.
Raffles are HIGHLY regulated in MOST states, and ILLEGAL in some.
Online raffles are a very RISKY business, since it crosses state lines, and they may, or may NOT, have registered it. Which is REQUIRED on ALL raffles.
P.S. I do like them, and sometimes buy tickets, but only local ones.
OK, to get back to the original question.
Raffles are legal, as long as they are done in accordance with the law. That means;
1.) You must have a state license to hold a raffle. This includes raffles held by out of state entities such as this one.
2.) To get a license for bingo/raffle/lottery, it must be for a registered non-profit/charitable organization.
I doubt they bothered to register their "non-profit" status with this state. I doubt they would qualify. I doubt they have a state license. I doubt that this raffle is technically legal in this state.
What does that mean? If you win and get your gun, great. If you don't, and you think there was foul play.... you spent $ XX.00 to learn not to gamble with an unregulated, uncontrolled, unsupervised, illegal gambling scheme. Good luck. :twisted: Karl.
