    Default i get to make my own privite range !!

    so my new inlaws are gonna let me use a piece of land on the farm to build a permanent shooting range !


    i pretty sure im gonna get 250 yard to play with so im trying to make it usable for shotguns , rifles and pistols . not sure how to build so .... any ides?

    The better you are at NOT making it look like a range, the better it'll be (especially if you can keep Big Brother from wanting to "chat" with you about your new range)!

    If this range is only for personal use, there isn't much you need to do. You can easily build some berms by just moving some dirt around and using some railroad ties to hold the dirt in place.

    If you are planning to have range members or allow the public to use it, get yourself this book: http://www.nrahq.org/shootingrange/sourcebook.asp (or better yet, take the class that is offered by the NRA on the subject). Also, be aware that it won't be an inexpensive experience! Many folks think that the cost of the land is going to be their biggest expense when, in reality, it is not.

    personal use only , no "public" use at all ever . family and close friends occasionally but for the most part just me practicing .

    I would assume that your in-laws have tractors. Scrape down the sight and build up berms at least 10 foot for a 250 yard range. Build some simple moveable benches and you are good to go. Have fun Al and don't forget your friends. Where is the property?
