Default Would you buy a personal vehicle from a car salesman?

Ah Craigslist... I found a car on CL that seemed like a fair deal. Turns out it’s the personally owned vehicle of a car salesman. Dude moved up here from Texas and never registered it. ok…
We met at the bank this AM and he brought title and bill of sale, but kind of forgot the car. My bullshit detector went on red alert. Told him I needed to think more and something didn’t feel right. Don’t want my general paranoia and hatred of lot lizards step on something that might be a fair deal. The whole reason I was shopping CL by Owner was to avoid dealers...

Maybe I should get my mechanic to go through it to make me feel less uncomfortable? Maybe I need a tissue?

If he wasn't upfront about everything, I would run very quickly in the opposite direction. Where is the car? have you seen it yet? Craigslist specifically says to avoid any sales that aren't local because they could be scams.... Be careful my friend!

The never registered thing I could overlook and understand the "Kind of forgot" to bring the car to sale it? I'd move on and start looking for another one.

Why would he "forget" to bring the car but not the title and bill of sale, Bs detector is beeping fast on this one. I bet he was figuring that you would say "awe its ok I'll come get it later", and then you can't get a hold of him. I would check his ID against the title as well. be careful if you do deal with this guy but I say move on.

Guys, if it's personal car sale/bill of sale - do your transaction outside AIRCARE CO location - and have them run vin verification. $20 and you are good to go.

    * ESPECIALLY on an out of State vehicle w/ an out of state title.

This deal stinks oh BS and a possible scam.

Best case scenario is that you'll have to jump through hoops to get it registered, worst case scenario is you'll get burned out of a lot of money.

    Walk away.
