When was the last time an F-16 actually strafed anyone? I thought they just hung out at cruising altitude and dropped their LGBs from there?

I couldn't tell you an exact date, but I'm sure they've strafed plenty of people/things in the last couple years of Iraq. But yes, they do drop a lot of JDAMs and LGBs.

Sorry, bud. Maybe this will cheer you up. This is a video from Asskrackistan where I controlled several GBU-38 strikes from a 2 ship of F-15s on a downed Blackhawk that couldn't be recovered. The video is from a UAV, is sanitized, and is a compilation of the entire mission. Enjoy.

Like Sharpie said, they do it all the time... in fact if they're the only air support on station/available, they can go "hot" with guns if heavy ordinance is either unnecessary or too risky or not approved. I'd rather have an AH-64 come in hot with their guns, but an Eagle or a Falcon is better than nothing.

Apaches are cool, too. But I would take the A-10 over anything else. And besides, 30 millimeters of high explosive incendiary rounds and armor piercing depleted uranium rounds make me feel kinda funny in my pants.

ETA: I wonder what kind of form the ATF would make me fill out to get my own GAU-8 Avenger?
