That's why I was dumbfounded when I found my 1947 Enfield No.5 Mk.1 Jungle Carbine in a pawn shop in Grand Junction for $150. Granted, if you didn't know what it was, it could look like something that some redneck cobbled together, with the way the stock is made and that big funnel-shaped flash hider on the muzzle.

It had a sling on it made from an old leather belt, it had a scope mounted on it, the rear ladder sight assy. was missing, and it was generally filthy. But it was a REAL No.5 Mk.1, not a copy made from a No.4, not an import, has all matching serial numbers all over it, just a remarkable find. Really a great score, the only thing keeping it from being a $500 rifle is the 3 holes D&T'd in the receiver for the scope mount. I found a rear sight assy. for like $30, bought a correct sling for $15, cleaned it all up, and it's golden!

I honestly don't think they had a clue what it really was. To them it probably was just some Bubba's homemade deer rifle, made from God-knows-what. It was a sleeper.

I saw a mint condition 870 Marine Magnum once for 300$ in a shop in Arvada. I waited a day to convince myself it wasn't an impulse buy and it was gone when I went back.

I still cry in the middle of the night sometimes when I think about it.

meh...I cry thinking about the time I passed up a M82 with a nightforce scope on it, 2 mags and about 100 rounds of ammo for $5500.

I cry about an Armalite Ar-10A4 I passed on in a pawn shop for 900.00. It had green stock and hand guards was my major bitch. Now after not seeing a used 20" flat top for sale since I'd pay 900 for for a pink one.

In 06 I bought an Izzy Heavy barrel Fal out of a shop in Cheyenne for $500. It had a broken bolt (very common on these) that I replaced for $30.

    I think we started @ $700

Pawn shops will deal if you have cash in hand and they have several shotguns in the rack. I have bought several guns at pawn shops and they have never failed to deal if you are ready to buy.

Well then I suggest not putting prices on them that make me laugh and walk out of the door.
