Remember, his job is to sensationalize events - facts be damned.
Back in 1986 I rescued a person from drowning. I was interviewed by the Base newspaper of the Base I was assigned to. Most every comment I made was twisted around. I was young and didn't pick my words carefully enough to avoid letting that happen. I learned a very important lesson from that situation. If this sort of thing would occur in a military publication, it would surely happen with civilian publications as well. I also learned over time that if you don't want to see your name next to something you said in print, watch what you say.
The writer of this particular article doesn't know his facts, as is true with most everybody. He's clearly got an anti-gun agenda and can't be bothered to report the facts. This is why I warned that we have to watch everything we say; not just now, but always. If you give the anti's the ammunition to use against the 2nd Amendment, they WILL use it!
ETA: Since the media has no interest in reporting the facts, it's up to people like us to counter this mis-information with the facts. This is a difficult task given that they control the primary means to reach out to the bulk of the populous, millions at a time. That diesn't mean we can't make a positive impact. Reach out to all you know and educate them. Even one at a time will help to get the facts out there. Invite non-shooters to join you at the range. Let them shoot your firearms to see just how misinformed they are about these guns. Learn the laws, past & present and inform the people. Even one man can make a difference.

"Congress shall make no law ... abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; ..."
Just because Congress shall make no law does not prohibit reasonable men from practicing discretion in what issues from their mouths. In other words; Just because you think it, doesn't mean it needs to be spoken.

From the movie Conspiracy Theory -
Jerry: David Berkowitz, Ted Bundy, Richard Speck...
Alice: What about them?
Jerry: Serial killers. Serial killers only have two names. You ever notice that? But lone gunmen assassins, they always have three names. John Wilkes Booth, Lee Harvey Oswald, Mark David Chapman...
Alice: John Hinckley. He shot Reagan. He only has two names.
Jerry: Yeah, but he only just shot Reagan. Reagan didn't die. If Reagan had died, I'm pretty sure we probably would all know what John Hinckley's middle name was.

Shooting suspect gun club membership rejected
By NICHOLAS RICCARDI and GILLIAN FLACCUS
AURORA, Colo. (AP) - Aurora shooting suspect James Holmes applied to join a Colorado gun range but never became a member after the owner became concerned over his "bizarre" message and behavior.
Owner Glenn Rotkovich says Holmes emailed an application to join the Lead Valley Range in Byers on June 25 and there were no overt warning signs in that form.
Holmes said he was not a user of illegal drugs or a convicted felon, so Rotkovich followed up by calling Holmes' apartment to invite him to a mandatory orientation the following week.
Rotkovich got Holmes' answering machine and says "it was bizarre - guttural, freakish at best."
Rotkovich left two other messages but eventually told his staff to watch for Holmes at the July 1 orientation and not to accept him into the club.
Makes me wounder what I would do if I know a fellow gun owner was "bizarre - guttural, freakish at best."
Who are they to judge how much is too much?

+1 for Glenn. Trusted his gut.
Something we all need to do a little more often.
