Even without a CCW, a person within arms reach at the bad guy's back could be very effective at fighting a shooter...especially one with a long gun.

In this real situation I wasn't there and can't ever say what I would do. There have been many stories of people helping other people and I applaud those that did help.

I am very impressed with the police and first responders. Their amazing quick response and the professional, effective communication I have heard from the radio transmissions was truly top notch.
If you ever tried to shoot out of a gas mask then you know that your peripheral vision and most of you vision period is gone. Easy to ambush from other than a frontal attack...

I thought I read that someone or many were at this guys feet?

The signs at the Colorado Springs Hollywood theater shocked me so I sent them this feedback through their website:

I realize you are trying to react sensitively to last week's horrible incident in Aurora, CO. However, I want to express my displeasure at the recent anti-gun signs posted at your Colorado Springs theater. Your theater has been my first choice for movie attendance precisely because it DIDN'T espouse the anti-gun practices at Cinemark.

If you actually look at the facts, you will see that people with a conceal carry permit are one of the safest demographics in America with the lowest crime profiles per capita. We will never know if an armed CCWer could have stopped the shooter sooner but I do know I am reluctant to enter a facility that basically advertises itself as a target rich environment for miscreants like the Aurora shooter.

I hope you and the local manager will see the error of your ways be an alternative to the unthinking knee-jerk Cinemark practices.

I've wondered the same thing myself, but then I also know that in a true crisis situation 99.9% of the people there cannot think and are not trained to react other than to cower or flee.

there is no way to know what the outcome would have been if only , if only

we know what the outcome was

i know that i will no longer be leaving my weapon at home as i often do. i know how i will change my thoughts and behavior patterns.

denver is often the only place i travel with any regularity that i feel it necessary to carry. living in the mountains you get the luxury of at least feeling safer near home and the community you know.

i wont be going to denver anymore without my CC on me

I don't get statements like this. I don't feel safe anywhere.

Agree. It is a state of mind with a nod toward preparedness. My minimum slut clothes carry is a G26. I need to start carrying a spare mag.

If I feel like I'm going to run I to trouble, my duty G17 rides in a Colorado Holster kydex rig with spare mags a SF X200 and cuffs.

Exactly, especially if you are firing off rounds. That guy had no clue what was going on around him.

Here's my view. It may not be very popular. I'm nobody's hero, except to me and mine. If I'm there with my wife, girlfriend, kids, whatever- my loved ones-
then I -ONLY- care about them. That is my circle, and that is what I will defend and/or protect. Everybody else is a victim. I'm getting me and mine the hell onto the ground and/or out of there. If I can get my hand on a pistol, and the attacker enters my field of vision, then he's going to get the whole mag. Otherwise....... we'll be gone before you know it- or moving in the opposite direction of the crowd.

I agree 100% sneakerd. 1st priority my wife, 2nd me, 3rd getting the fvck out. I'm not a hero except to me and mine, selfish? Yep. I'm not Rambo. I just had a discussion last night with my buddy like this.
