If the country as a whole would recoil in livid disdain for gun grabbing talk the way they do for say new taxes and forced medical insurance. The whole thing wouldn't get turned into a political nightmare.

I am curious to know what the perps true political affiliation is if any......the TP myth had been debunked last I knew and IIRC he was tied in with an OWS group.

9 news has given the ok to film his court which starts on monday. Sorry if this was posted already but there are a butt load of pages to read since my first post this morning. I wanna see this guy fry. All though I feel no amount of justice will be given to him for what he's done. 71 shot and 12 dead is a great deal of pain to everyone in the whole US.

Had a girlfriend addicted to pain meds. Died last May. Couldn't get her help because of no ins or $$$. + she didn't care. Only thing to do was use the courts to force her to a hospital which was also almost impossible. Same goes to people with mental issues.

First my thoughts and condolences go out to the victims and families of this tragic event.

I heard about this morning thought to myself how "out of control" the news media was going to go and sure enough they did.

My mom, who I am not very close with and haven't spoken since last May '11 calls me concerned if I was okay and not at the theater. ???????? I told her I went to the range today as was planned a week ago and shot my AR's. She was in shock I would do that............

Little baffled at her thoughts but made me think how people who do not understand or are familiar might think watching the news.

This thread exploded like crazy and not much I can add since so many of my thoughts are right along with most of you guys.
I will add I am disgusted at the news media, politicians, and anti gun idiots who are using this tragedy to bring light to their personal agenda's.

Alright i have been lurking long enough. My only comment is this. This sorry piece of trash has destroyed countless lives, and he should get what he deserves without the attention he obviously craves. As for the media circus, anyone who would politicise this tragic event before the bodies are even removed from the scene shame on you. That goes for both sides of the issue. My two cents. I'm out.

Now 9news has computer generated reproductions of what went on. An animated man with a shot gun on tv. Will the media ever understand where the line is so suddenly after an event?!?

This is scary, Aurora PD reports that the shooter identified himself as "the Joker" upon arrest. I fear we may not see an answer to the question why. If anyone knows much about the Dark Knight comics, the new Joker is the representation of chaos, there is no reason but to disrupt the status quo and create more chaos. Rewatch The Dark Knight and focus on Ledger's Joker, it might give some insight into the motives behind this sick fvck.

I think the shooting community needs to step up and stress to those not in the know that these "active shooters" that pull this depraved, heinous and horrible crap are a very small number of gun owners, like fraction of a percent. It's terrible that it takes a tragedy like this to bring us together, but like with Columbine, and 9/11 and other terrible events, it shows that we as Americans rise up and come together as one, and I think that is the one good thing that can come out of these horrible horrible acts. They need to try this guy as a terrorist.

Watching the Aurora police chief make a statement right now.
Over the past six weeks he bought 4 weapons (AR, 2 .40sw Glocks, and the 870)
Over the Internet he bought thousands of rounds for the guns, as well as a number of mags for the AR and a beta mag.
