I was a responding officer on the scene. I was there for about five hours. It was the worst thing I've ever seen at work, to include Hurricane Katrina when I was a Texas LEO.
I also worked OT in Aurora for the POTUS visit and vigil at Headquarters.
My thoughts and prayers are in heavy rotation for the victims.

What you experienced as an LEO is something that I wish fewer individuals would have to experience. You and all of the other officers who responded are HEROES for how quickly you responded, taking care of the wounded, getting wounded to the hospital, and getting control of this murderous POS - and don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise. Please pass on to the other members of your team just how much we appreciate your efforts and are glad you are there.
