Yeah, I'm a cynic, but its a real effin' cynical world.
I don't see it as an admission of guilt; that's like everyone donating to the fire victims admitting guilt for having a camp fire at some time.

I see where you're coming from but I think we should do whatever we can.

I really don't know on this one. My first instinct is to maintain a low profile. Or a monetary donation to an organization assisting victims...like the Red Cross or something.

    But I don't know...it's a tough call.

But there isn't a huge movement to camping to "protect the forest from fire" There is a huge movement to ban guns under the misguided belief that it would prevent things like this.

I agree, which is why I think we should all do what we can as individuals.

I still think this is playing too much into their hands; I’m not saying we should have a media campaign but I think offering free CCW classes or assisting with medical bills is far from admitting guilt to anything. I don’t feel guilty about anything that has happened and unfortunately we don’t have the kind of life where we can provide much individual assistance. I could donate to one of the relief organizations but I’d rather see something organized through here so I’m reasonably assured that the $$$ are going where they're supposed to.... Even if it's other families doing something more direct.

Where some might see some sort of false admittance of guilt others hopefully will see a community helping in time of need. But you can't make anyone think anything, you can only put the thought out there.

I'm not as concerned as "how people see it" as I am with doing what I can to give in a time of need. If we as a community have an organized donation of any type then count me in
