I was stationed there in the late 80s. it must be pushing 110 degrees right now. I left a few stink bombs out there too. The one thing I liked about Liggett was that there was room to drive armored vehicles, lots of room, since it is the size od Rhode Island.

When I was in the Army (B Co. 4/40 Armor) I spent 8 months TDY at Ft. Hunter-Liggett. It was in support of a DoD exercise called TASVAL. That was in 1979, and it was a big place with little to offer! I remember the "Ruby Mine Saloon" right outside the main gate. Our Battalion SGM was there til closing about every night. The staff duty driver was charged with dropping him off when the NCO club closed for the evening. I was there before Fort Ord closed.

From what I am reading Ft. Hunter-Liggett has not changed much over the years.

    Default Korea

My father trained there before he went to Korea as the terrain at the fort was just like Korea.

I did some good fishing on Hunter Liggett in the mid 70's.
