    Default Best childhood memories

Trying to change the mood, tired of the doom and gloom and negative vibe.

So what's you best childhood memory?

Mine always has been either hunting related with my pops (RIP). We went on a Montana guided deer hunt a couple years before he passed and I can honestly say that has been my best memory as a kid with him. Family vacations were nice and fun, but I think that my best childhood memories have been the time that I spent hunting or fishing with my dad.

Fishing for trout with a #1 Mepps spinner with the red tab cut off from the body of the hook
and either a gold or silver spinner up and down the Big Thompson river from the Estes Park damn all the way about 3 miles east of Drake give or take.
The best fishing was behind Loveland Heights cottages and about 1/2 mile
down river from there at what we called "The Bend". I caught more fish in Big Thompson then anywhere else in this state.

Hitting the tree with a hammer (for no reason as far as I can remember) running from my father who was trying to whoop me. I remember looking back and seeing how red his face was!!

Camping and fishing with the family every summer on the beach in Montauk, Long Island. Beat days of my childhood.

Best would be the time spent at the race track. Most vivid would be the Columbus day storm http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Columbus_Day_Storm_of_1962

    I grew up in Portland.

Spending time at Riverside and Willow Springs race tracks with Grandpa, Grandma, and Dad. Grandpa raced SCCA Calclub for many years. I remember waking up really early and jumping in the station wagon yelling at everyone "lets go". Miss Grandpa, and Riverside.

Pre-breakfast walk in the jungle with my dad (a biologist) watching monkeys jump from limb to limb with the rays of sunlight streaking between trees. I had a good childhood.
