    Is there a way I can get medical records from 30+ years ago? Back then I went to childrens hospital on Colo. Blvd

    Probably micro fiched long ago and rotting away in some dark dank long forgotten storage closet in the basement.

    You can call the hospital and request a copy, but after 30 yrs they probably destroyed them. Most medical facilities usualy hold records for 10 yrs then destroy them. Just call and ask.

    You will probably have to call Childrens', they will give you an address where you will have to send a formal written letter requesting them. There will most likely be a fee involved, as they will have to dig them up.

    My Wife had to research this to get hers for when she had heart surgery when she was a baby, she says no they do not destroy them.

    I believe 10 years is the requirement. If it is still active the file stays around but inactive for 10 it can be destroyed. I hope you luck out and they find it.

    My wife is a therapist and we take her 10+ year records, shred them and use them for fire starting. She's so strict that she won't let me run the shredder so I won't see a name.
