Oh crap, I had better get 5000 or so large pistol primers before the shelves go empty again.

I think we all need to go out and buy a new gun and a bunch of ammo to help pump up the numbers for the media.

Default Reality (something the gun-control lobby forgets)

These heinous murders (like those that have happened before) are a sad reminder that we cannot stop a lone wolf, much less detect them prior to their acting on whatever sick and twisted fantasies they are Hell-bent on putting into play. It is a simple reality in a free-society. Bad people, sick people will do what they're going to do and we can only stop it if we get lucky.

One interesting thing of note that I learned the other day is that there are 3 people on Colorado's Death Row (hopefully there will be a 4th person soon), they're all former residents of the City of Aurora (meaning they lived there when they committed their crimes). How odd is that? I think it speaks volumes of what most of us have known about Aurora for a long time (my apoligies to the law abiding citizens of Aurora on here in advance). The fact remains, the City of Aurora seems to produce a much larger share of violent crime than anywhere else in the state.

This is probably why they restrict conceal-carrying in many places in the city. But it is also the reason there was not one person carrying a firearm in that theatre who maybe, just maybe could have prevented or reduced the level of carnage.

That's my 2-cents on it all.

The first part of your post is completely wrong, we CAN stop a lone wolf.

I've done my part. 2, possibly 3 new purchases this month, along with some ammo

As is the second. Im from Aurora, I grew up here. I live about a mile away from century 16. The proximity to the thug magnet or "mall"as it is called is the only reason i go elsewhere to see movies. Aurora is a good city full of good people. My guess is the century shooting is the limit of your A- town experience. They all could have just as easily came from cherry hills too.

I honestly, couldn't agree more. I have spent a lot of time in Aurora, and most places I've been have been in vicinity of Buckley AFB... lots of my uniform clad brothers and sisters there and while yes, I've seen some shady individuals, it's really no more than what I run into at 16th Street Mall, South West Plaza, hell, even in my current location of Lakewood. Now granted, 5 Points is a whole different story, but that's 5 Points. I'd venture to say Aurora is no more dangerous that the Highlands, or Green Mountain, or even Golden, it's all different situations. Now, I do feel safest when I'm back in my hometown of Evergreen, but that's because it's boring and less densely populated.

Anyone who thinks there are "bad" or "shady" areas around Denver has not spent enough time in other parts of the country. Go hang out for a day in South Dallas, certain parts of LA, or anywhere in Houston and you will see what a dangerous urban area really is - don't go any of these places unarmed if you can help it. Even 5 Points would be considered relatively up-scale compared to other cities.

I agree, there are plenty of bad places in any city of any size. South Oak Cliff in Dallas is definitely dinky dau.

I reiterate my previous point on stopping a lone wolf. The lone wolf is the toughest target to handle. They have an agenda, the means, and they get to pick the time and place for the engagement. You can get lucky sometimes in stopping them, but most times you will not be lucky. Anyone who says otherwise has never encountered one. Ask a Secret Service agent, it is their worst nightmare.

This is why terrorists are easier to stop than the lone wolf wakko, they communicate and that's how they are caught. If you're planning some nefarious operation against innocents and you keep it low key, odds are you probably won't get caught (prime example, aside from the illegal accumulation of weapons, only Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris knew what they were doing and they kept it that way).
