Default Quick Question about Denvers Assault Weapons ban

I understand that Denver bans "assault" weapons.. The specific wording I am concerned about is:

All semiautomatic action, centerfire rifles with a
detachable magazine with a capacity of twenty-one (21) or
    more rounds.

So, does that mean that if I have an AK-47, AR-15, ect, but only own 20 round magazines, am I legal? Or does it mean that just because it is CAPABLE of taking a 30 rnd magazine it is illegal, even if I dont own any 30 rnd magazines?

I just moved to Denver, and need clarification please?

I don't know but maybe if you call the police department they can give you clarity..... Or just take someone's word on here how they interpret it..

I've found that you can ask 5 different police officers a firearms legality question and you will get 5 different answers.

This ^^^^ Contact an attorney if you're that concerned. Police give bad info a lot, not all the time, but enough.

On that and not to hijack. Are there penalties for police giving bad info, for them not you.

Not trying to start an argument, but seeking clarity. If it is just the mags that are prohibited in Denver why can't gunshops in Denver sell AR-15's? Like when Sportsman's Warehouse on south Wadsworth was still there they could not carry/sell AR's because they were in Denver. I agree that private ownership is not prohibited unless you have 21 round or more mags but AR's must be purchase outside of Denver.

Probably the same reason some online vendors will not ship High Cap mags to Colorado in general. It's not that they can't read, it's the comprehension that get's them. Or with the lawsuits against manufactures maybe they didn't want to be held liable for selling them there.
