it's funny you should talk about broken bones. I used to pride myself in never having broken a bone (when I was younger). since then, including this accident, I've broken 22 (12 in this wreck). In fact, my hand (broken thumb) was in a cast until about a month before the wreck. and I was nursing a broken (maybe cracked) rib during that time as well. I feel pretty good day to day now, and I can keep up with my toddler. cant ask for much more...
I used to say that I wanted to go out of this life the same way I had come in; covered in blood and screaming...lol (bad joke).
certainly came closer then I would have liked that day.
funny side story too...
it was about 3 months after the accident, I was still laid up on the couch / wheel chair etc. I can feel something in my foot, like a bad splinter. I felt it for days but couldnt really do anything about it. My wife is looking at it for me and runs her finger accross my foot. starts digging and sure enough, there is a piece of glass that she finds. Automotive safety glass that had been burried in my foot for 3 months had finally made it's way out. good little chunk too... lol
OUCH! Glad to hear that you are progressing so well!
I gave up my street-bike only after walking away from being swatted off of the road by a semi. Kept on dirt-biking, though... until I got broadsided by a Baja-Bug. Limped away from that one. Got my bell rung pretty good when I got broadsided in 2005... 5 months of memory weirdness that fortunately snapped-back into focus. Walked home after the ER exam. Only just now recovering from last Auto Accident... 10/2/10... had to have my Shoulder rebuilt... 7/8/11... and a chunk of Collar Bone removed from the Shoulder Socket from that one... it slowed me down for a few months. Physical Therapy was/is excruciating but soooooooooo worth it.
Keep up the good work and solid attitude!![]()

Happy Birthday. Never been a rider, and there are too many stupid people out there. I won't even ride a bicycle on the road for any distance.
congrats on still being here![]()
Wow!!! Damn glad you are still here.....esp. for your son and wife. Your internal hardware looks eerily like my own and like you said, I can still see that grille coming at me. Best wishes for continued recovery and a long time with your family.

I had glass and paint chips working its way out of my face for several years after an accident. I had one piece come out almost ten years after.
The date of that accident is the only date I remember other than my birthday.
Good to see you're doing so well. I hope you continue to do well.
I have been riding since I was about 10 yrs old, many accidents and once dumped the bike going about 55 MPH when a car pulled out in front of me. Been scrubbed with a bristle brush many times on the road rash.
No near deaths! Thanks god! On a bike anyway, closest I came was when I fell 85 feet straight back, was gonna land on my neck, thought I was a gonner! My prayers worked that day and next thing you know I was right side up, but crushed my tip and fib> Three surgeries later I was put back together with pins and even though the doc said i wouldn't walk for a year, I was on 3 months later.....
Gave up riding about a year ago, because it's not a matter "if" your gonna wreck but "when"............
Glad your around to tell the story...
