Yes, hands on from a cruise ship
Sorry, I'm sure it was still extremely beautiful! I spent 3 weeks in the backcountry on a backpacking and sea-kayaking trip. We drove one day for 15hrs to get to our next base camp and it felt like we barely covered any ground in comparison to how big the state is. THAT really put it in perspective, as to how unmolested and barren Alaska really is. That, and nearly dying while taking off with too much gear in a small two passenger plane over a mountain pass from Cordova (which doesn't have any roads outside of the small fishing town, only accessible by plane/boat - we kayaked into it).
