The last time I talked to a sleep doctor was in the late 70's and he told me that my normal is abnormal and Live With It. I just found out that in the mid 1980's being a Night Owl has been officially recognized a Disorder and can be a Disability. I have been this way all my life. Even as kid I was a Night Owl. My Dad was a Night Person too.

I retired four years ago yesterday after working 22 years of rotating shifts. I thrived on swing and graveyard shift. The 7 days a month that I had to work day shift was miserable.

I stop in and lurk around here frequently but I not sure if I'm part of the "Night Crew" because I'm not working.

I managed to skeeve off a morning of work and inadvertently slept sans alarm clock until 11AM. I'd been missing my full 8 hours of beauty sleep needed to be fully functional for about a week with only about 6 and worked 16 hours Sunday with insufficient sleep the night before.

Yes, I am a night owl. I don't do morning well. It comes from years of having to work late hours/overnighters/weekends in IT. I'm not on a regular overnight shift like some of you guys.
