Watched that twice absolutely awe inspiring.
I think it depends on the situation whether our military would fire on civilians in this country. Probably many would in a situation characterized as a "riot" or a "cult" (however true or false). Something more on the scale of an "insurrection" would see fewer but likely a division akin to 1861.

Go hunt down the "29 palms survey" and you'll see that of the Marines surveyed about a quarter of the said they'd follow orders requiring them to fire on US citizens.
Thankfully a sizable chunk of the US military would take our side, but whether they'd also be flying gunships with night and IR targeting systems or they'd be on the ground with us is yet to be seen.

I think enough would sympathize with the uprising side to somewhat mitigate the others.
It would still be a nightmare scenario I don't care to see.

How would our military be any different than any other in the history of the world? Look at how society broke down in New Oreleans. I also doubt they would sent units form nearby post to the outskirts of said post to avoid "friends and family." So units from other parts ofthe country would be used.
Every time there is a riot the police are deployed and have no issue restoring peace.
Some people have a hard time distinguishing between country and Government.
Call me a pessimist.
