Default 45 ACP Reloading Session Started

Getting ready to reload 4000 rds of 45 ACP.

Cases: cost me 55$ per 1k once fired. On the 3rd reload. Still look good
Powder: Promo 80$ per 8 lbs 4gr load
Bullet: Hand cast 230 gr. Lee 452-228-1R .45 per pound 33 lbs
Primer: Wolf LP 17$ per 1k

Loaded on LNL with modified Hornady bullet feeder that will feed lead bullets.

Total cost per 1k estimated at

    Cases $18.30
    Powder: $6.53
    Primer: $17
    Bullet: $14.85
Total $56.68 per 1k of .45 ACP goodness.

Takes a full day to load it all if done at one shot. Load is more accurate than any cheap WWB or Federal you can buy by a long ways. I always love it when I hear that it doesn't really save money to reload your own.

I never looked at cost to reload, i just do it. I did score 5K of WSP primers for $120 OTD today. Probably going to get the 5K of WSR primers he has.

That was a good deal, jim!

Not sure why we like to put dollars on our hobbies. Truth is, for me, if I didn't reload I couldn't afford to shoot half as much...

There's several reasons I work out the cost of my hobbies. I went to a no credit lifestyle. To make that work I am on a strict budget. I have disciplined myself to be aware what everything costs and it helps me make informed decisions. The best reason is the awesome feeling of beating the system. I have a buddy that doesn't shoot that much because he can't afford much ammo. 100rds of decent .45 will run him close to $40 with tax. How can you not be aware and try to work something out.

You'll be shamelessly mining berms for lead in no time...

Wait a second. Scratch that. There is no lead in the berms. Nothing to see here. Move along.

I started out keeping tabs on components and equipment. Instead of figuring how much i saved or spent i look at it like this.
I have no problem dropping cash on NFA and regular toys, when funds are available. So i figure consider the reloading as an extension of gun buying. I don't dip in to household expenses to pay for a hobby. However when i was out last week with the SO buying some rl items, the wife says,"They have small rifle & pistol primers in stock should we get another 2-3K just to have"

You know, if the wimmens ever figure out how easy it is to get a man to appreciate them we'd be in trouble.
