Default Any casting guys interested in NOS wheel weights?

I came across a guy in Denver that has an inventory of used auto parts (by the pallet) and has a pallet of new old stock lead wheel weights. Camel brand from the old Gates Corp. I took a look at them today and they're all new in the box, no zinc or steel ones. The clips were cast into the weights, numbers were cast not stamped, and no Zn or Fe markings.

The thing is the pallet weighs 600#'s and the whole thing would need to be bought. Would it be worth $1/lb to buy the things and would anyone be interested in splitting up some of it? Apparently wholesale value on the new weights is around $4500, he wanted to sell for $1500, but talked him down to $600. Just curious if it would be worth it.

    Default depends on the weights

Small weights have little lead when you factor in the steel clip.
If they are weight of decent size it would be a good deal for people loading 9mm or such rounds.
I load for 45 acp and don't need the hardness.

You can buy wheel weight lead for a 1$ a pound shipped already cleaned, melted in ignots.
I would be tempted to buy the weights for 600$ and try to sell to a tire shop for double the money and buy melted lead with it. You're going to loose 10-20% by melting it dow + cost of propane. I pay .45 per pound for used ww and loose about 30% to zinc, iron, clips, trash.

600# might be a bit much to deal with if you can get lead already in ingots below that price. It doesn't take up a whole lot of room, but it probably would make more sense to sell them as tire weights than as lead for bullets. I'll see if I can't talk him down any more. I'm sure they've been sitting around for 20 years.

$0.25 per lb for the full pallet. I'd go for 50lb, and have cash in hand.
Is this going to be a group buy??
While wheel weights may be sought after in some circles, it is still LEAD not Silver or Gold.

I bet you could find a tire shop that would buy them pretty easy. If the value of the weights is 4500$ then a small shop would jump at the chance to get them at 1200-1500$. If you're used to bugging small shops for free used weights like me then it shouldn't be to hard to go around finding a buyer. Horse trading can get you some interesting deals.
