Wow more information on James Holmes. http://www.foxnews.mobi/quickPage.ht...5701_pageNum_1
His shrink thought he was a threat before hand and it was reported to the CU. Threat assessment team and nothing was done.

Shocking...you mean academia didn't take action on an insane person who (I'm assuming) has contempt for America and the success of capitalism?
This is UNPRECEDENTED!
(sarcasm)
The shooter is unstable? But it's the gun's fault......
Grrrrr
Academia wants to "respect" the privacy of the individual and their relationship with places of education, hence O's transcripts being kept secret (sorry OT)
Anyway. I find the Hall's of education's ideas of the 1st amendment when it comes to one of their own, so much different than john or jane doe.
They want every shred of info released about you or I, yet fight will all their money and attorneys to keep their crap out of the public eye.
Perhaps the 1st is an antiquated amendment that should be revised for today's society. I know they believe the 2nd is in need of revision.
The Great Kazoo's Feedback
"when you're happy you enjoy the melody but, when you're broken you understand the lyrics".
Why stop at the 1st two amendments? Lets just scrap the whole constitution and start over...since, you know...the founding fathers were out of touch.
I guess their reasoning for not taking action was because he left the school. I dunno about them, but I would wager that if a psychiatrist said "hey this guy is gonna snap and hurt alot of people" that I wouldn't stop at the university gates.
Sounds like they dropped the ball and they are already doing what they do best - make excuses and point fingers.
We're learning more about this guy and we learning alot more about the people who knew him best, their motivations, their negligence, and the costs that they consider acceptable.
Were I a victim my list would include the parents and the university directly and the movie theater indirectly.
Remember Major Hasan who murdered those defenseless people at the Army base? Our government, in its PC world, determined that it was better for 13 innocent people to die and many more to get life altering injuries than to face up to a killer who did not hide his views or threats and eventually carried them out.
These are the costs that liberals willing to pay to sacrifice you on their altar of evil.
Would you rather give those gun-hating liberals more power to be proactive in stopping potential killers? Remember, of motive, method and opportunity, they think you're already guilty of numbers two and three, if you CCW. When you spew anti-government and anti-liberal invective, you start to sound crazy to them, demonstrating number one. Do you really want to swing things the other way?
Sad but Jim said is very true, how fast do you think since this news got out and if it can be documented a civil lawsuit will be brewing under the notion this could have been prevented if the BETA team contacted authorities?
"The rifle itself has no moral stature, since it has no will of its own. Naturally, it may be used by evil men for evil purposes, but there are more good men than evil, and while the latter cannot be persuaded to the path of righteousness by propaganda, they can certainly be corrected by good men with rifles. --Jeff Cooper"
My feedback
What are a University's legal obligations and limitations on a report like this? Also, doesn't the shrink's report violate the doctor-patient confidentiality, or am I missing something?
My wife is a therapist. She'd die rather than violate confidentiality. However, there are exceptions. This would be clear one. Shrinks have an obligation to report credible violent threats. It is a shame she worked for the university. That added many layers of lard brained people who had to process this before cops were called.
Too many layers and it tends to not be done as we saw with Penn State.
