Shotgun toting home dweller stops burglar!

Good post, i am hopeful that this young burglar learns that crime does not pay, and I'm most circumstances he would not have got a 2nd chance.
Good work by the guy. However, I'm surprised that kid just didn't get up and run. If the kid is fleeing the guy probably wouldn't have, or shouldn't have shot him (according to the courts). If ever I were a burglar I'd just say, "I'm unarmed" then put my hands up and start walking away. The homeowner can't shoot me, and if he wants to follow me let him try. I wish it weren't so but it is. Hence why I keep some plastic cuffs at home. In that instance it would be a perfect way to detain him inside the house until LE gets there.

Tgiv, your thought process is the same as people walking into the street with the mind set that if they get run over, they'll just sue the driver. I guess they can sue if they live.

I'm not sure of the CRS legality, but I'd do it anyway.I'm just saying if put in the scenario of POS on the ground in the kitchen at gunpoint you can bet I'm going to grab some flex cuffs and hook his ass to something so he can't get any ideas. What would the cops charge you with, kidnapping?
I know I'd be impressed if someone did that, shows initiative and preparedness.
my old boss saw a mexican robbing his neighbors house he cornered the guy in his backyardwith his shotgun and called the police(who showed up over ten minutes later) when they showed up they said he shouldnt have done that he could have been charged with something and to just let them do there job![]()
^ Shitty cops there. What are they going to charge him with Felony Menacing? Illegal use of a firearm? What a joke. They were being lazy, bottom line. Now I certainly don't advocate Rambo-ness and causing safety concerns for others but from what you are describing that sounds reasonable and appropriate. For instance, a few weeks ago a guy called me to report a hit and run. Little did I know he had been chasing the guy all over Lakewood, Wheat Ridge, and Golden to get the car's license plate. He said it was like James Bond with all of the weaving and going around cars and stuff. Unbelievable. Especially considering that the damage was negligent and on his mom's crappy 1990 Ford Taurus. Seriously?![]()
amen to that...
I also heard something else that might be of use.. if you were to shoot somebody in your home, "administor" first aid.
even if you blow the guys head off.. put some rags near the wound. it shows your intent was not to kill, but to stop a dangerous person. i guess i understand the point there.. interesting anyway...
