    Default Fake bids on gunbroker?

Recently bid on an item from gun broker for someone with an A+ rating and 900+ feedback. Looked at their feedback and the item always goes for the "buy it now price" which is thousands above what people bid. Thoughts?

Gunbroker doesn't allow for last minute bids so it'd be tough to snipe the system. If they have 900+ positive feedback, chances are they might be the real deal?

This ^^^^^^^even if you are the high bidder and try to shore up an item within that 15 minute window it'll rest the time.....don't ask how I know

I have noticed in the last year in many auctions where I am the high bidder pretty much to the end on certain items I will get outbid by people with no feedback. My theory is that the seller does not want to sale the item at my bid and either they create another user name and out bid me. It's to a point now for me if I get outbid by a bidder with no feedback I won't bother bidding. I have got into bidding battles and I believe it was rigged. I also believe that some dealers have bidding profiles created to cheat the bidding system. Quite frankly you can see this happening, a seller who always leaves feedback both negative and positive after auctions wont leave feedback on no feedback bidder. Think about it after 90 days the auction record no longer exist so Mr fake bidder can be used again. I guess some sellers would rather loose the smaller chunk of change to Gunbroker than a smaller winning bid. I am not saying this happens a lot but it does, watch things close and you will see it happening.

I've thought about this as well. I bid on an item that has been sitting on the site, sometimes expired and reposted, and as soon as I bid somebody else bids. Which, if I want the item bad enough, will just get it for the buy it now price. Makes me wonder if there are "phantom bidders".

Girlscouts? Hmmm, I don't know... I think it's kinda dangerous to teach young girls self esteem and leadership skills.

It went from $100 to full asking price of 10k... I smell a scam.

Wouldn't the other user want to get it for $200?

You are right, I guess the seller forgot he set the reserve too low. Seen some auctions reposting for 6 months and then I bid then some no feedback mfer bids wins and he never gets feedback from the seller. Seller seems to always leave the appropriate feedback but not in this case.

I know shill bidding is now allowed on eBay, and they have a software to track that.
I am fairly certain GB has a similar tracking system.

When I sell something with fixed buy it now price with starting price, it usually end up going way higher than buy it now price.
