I wave when I can. Not that I'm home to ride too much, anyway.

I ride a Harley (and a BMW). I'm not a bike snob...I like them all, regardless of brand. As a matter of fact, in the little group I ride with, it's about a 50/50 split between metrics and Harleys. I don't like people because of the brand of bike they ride.

Having said that, I usually wave, but rarely initiate it. Sometimes I don't. And frankly, it gets a little annoying cruising down a busy road passing bike after bike and feeling obligated to wave. So, yeah...sometimes I have better things to do than wave back to you.

It seems in my experience that sport-bike riders are the least likely to wave. I'd say about 60% to 70% of the Harley riders I pass wave...helmet/windshield or not. Course, most sport bike riders are usually passing me on curves or in no-passing zones because they're always in such a hurry.

Regardless of the "brotherhood" or whatever, I don't get offended if you don't wave. I don't really give a damn if you get offended if I don't wave at you. If that means I'm not a real biker or I "don't get it", so be it.

Like so many other things, I ride to make me happy...not anyone else.

I don't wave, I don't know you, I ride pretty much alone unless I'm with my boys.

And BG is a BMW snob. LOL

Hey...not just anyone can own a 2001 bright yellow and black F650GS and look like a bumblebee going down the road.

    I wave to everyone......

unless I'm busy controlling the bike of course.
    I'd say ( as a sportbike rider) 50% of sporty's wave back .. 30% of Harleys/ cruisers, and 100% of Goldwings.

You should never get mad about a missed wave back ESP if they are busy riding the bike ,.

Harley riders, in a much larger percentage, do NOT acknowledge anyone not on a Harley.

It's not upsetting or anything touchy feely like that, just makes me think they're dicks.

I ride an American bike now that even has a Harley engine, but since it doesn't fit the traditional Harley Davidson form factor (Buell Ulysses) I get snubbed just as often as I did when I was on my KLR.

I'm curious, since there are several Harley owners on this board. Do you or do you not gesture (when safe of course) and what do you ride?
Ok, here it is.... I ride a Harley and I don't wave at ANYONE, unless I happen to know them.

Why yes, I am, thank you for noticing and QUIT waving, you look like an idiot. Seriously, it has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with what you or anyone else rides. I ride what I like, and I'm guessing most everyone else does the same. Good for them, seriously. It doesn't matter to me what or if they ride, the fact that two complete strangers rides DOES not make them members of somekind of elite fraternity..... get over it.

GET THIS IDEA OUT OF YOUR HEAD RIGHT NOW!!!! We, as in you and I, ARE NOT BROTHERS!!!!! The term "brother" is AN EARNED STATEMENT and YOU have NOT earned it! A brother is someone I'll regard with highest respects as extended family. In tough times, he will have my back, and I will have his. "I am my brother's keeper". The only thing you've made it clear you and I have in common, is that we each ride motorcycles...... YEAH!!! Do you want a cookie or something?

Again, seriously.... I personally don't give one ounce of a damn what/if you ride. I'm not snubbing you at all by not waving, I simply don't care who you are, why you ride, what you ride, or how your day is going...... "Why?" you might ask.......... Now you've asked the right question:

You've failed to make a formal introduction to myself or my brothers personally. So you can pass by and wave every day until your hand falls off and you'll never get one in return. Sure, maybe we're dicks, and that's a term I wear quite proudly actually.... someone has to be one or most of the rest of the population continues on with stupidity because they don't realize they're doing so. But personally I think it boils down to the simple fact that you are not known..... Why should we wave at you? You could be some happy little pedofile riding down the road looking for your next local elementary school to stake out. You might be a total moron willing to vote for Obama. YOU very well MIGHT be someone I wouldn't like if we met formally, and THAT good sir.... is why you DON'T DESERVE MY RETURN WAVE.

Runs and rallys..... been there done that, have gotten completely turned off to the idea because I'm just not a people person and I tend to point out stupidity at a moments notice with NO regard about whose feelings get hurt. Get over it, get over yourself, and lighten up. You're just as small as the rest of us in this world.... you want a "community"? There it is... the human race.... read it and weep or celebrate it like some of the rest of us. The only ones going to care about how butt-hurt you are because people don't wave are other dillweeds who somehow think that riding a bike gives them some sort of ENTITLEMENT! What are you, two-wheeled OWS asshats?... YOU DIDN'T GET A WAVE, YOU WANT YOUR FREE WAVE!!!!! F/U.

    You want respect? EARN IT

You want a wave? EARN IT

You have a bike? Then shut, up and enjoy the ride Sally. There's an entire beautiful planet out there to see and your silly ass is worried about what other riders think of you, so you go into a public online forum and make a post about it...... FUGG'EM!!!!! Ride on, and quit your bitching....

    Rant over.

Do you know what the difference is between a guy who rides a Harley or any other kind of bike...What type of D bag is holding on to the handle bars.

I'd always heard it like this: What's the difference between a Harley and a Hoover? The location of the dirtbag.
