My family and I went to the Denver Museum of nature and science to watch this along with 1,300 others last night. It was absolutely amazing! Over all, we had about a 40% chance of making it to the surface, although, the US's success rate is about 73%. There are other countries on mars, but none of them would have made it without the help of the US. If there is any doubt about the US's science dominance, I would have to point out our new 1 ton asset now on mars!
This project cost about $7 for every person living in the US. The price of a movie. Very worth it if you ask me!
The event at the museum started at about 8:00 last night. It started out with interviews with engineers and scientists at the museum and then went to the NASA feed for the landing and the press conference that followed.
I cannot share the feeling when it was announced that the rover had landed and the first pictures came up. It was a very good time.
Mars is entirely inhabited by robots.
Nicely done Ridge. Thanks for putting that together.
I "liked" it on Youtube.![]()
