Most definitely. The YMCA and Big Brothers Big Sisters are a perfect example. I would submit that older generations grew up faster because they had to (for a number of reasons) and are annoyed that kids today don't have to.

The judge did NOT say he was owed anything! He said the youth owed the world, just by the fact that he was allowed to exist on it. I think the point is what did you contribute to the betterment of the world? Damn kids get an attitude and then grow up to shoot up theaters and churches and schools...

It's not the kids fault (when the are still kids...21 and younger lets call it for the sake of argument), it's the parents fault for being shitty parents. You can't do anything about your adult kids obviously, but if you dont raise your kids right its YOUR fault if they act shitty.

I do not believe this is an age or generation thing. I believe this is a personality thing.

"No's" are free. If you wait for something, all you will get is less time. Do something. Do anything, as long as you aren't intentionally hurting others. Try to make your finite time on this planet mean something.

I have failed in this area many, many times. Mostly due to my attitude. After 48 years on this side of death, I have learned that when I am busy and positive, I am almost unstoppable. This was reinforced while I was in the military and has proven invaluable during my career in public service.

Learn something from everyone. Treat everyone with respect, even when they don't respect themselves. If you can't be busy, look busy. Eventually you will find something to be busy with, and it just may be productive. Don't wait for others to provide something for you to do, as it probably will not be as interesting as finding something to do on your own.

Serve others. This sounds simple but is actually very hard. I don't mean do things for other people. I mean find ways to be productive that someone else has not been able to help themselves. This is the golden rule of customer service and will serve anyone well in any profession.

Don't let failure and discouragement derail you from your mission. Every expert was a beginner once. I would rather say I was sorry for doing something wrong than know I was wrong because I did nothing.
