Just registered 3 vehicles 2 weeks ago. The newest one is a 2002 Dodge Intrepid. The Intrepid was around $185. My POS/ready to die any day 1995 Celica ST (not even a good GT) was $169. $169 for this POS? This state has lost it's mind!

The 06 Grand Prix was $160. The wife's 00 GP was $69 last month. My 98 dodge was up to $130 and the 86 2+2 GP was $70. Others are on 5 year tags.

4 years ago they wanted $400+ for my Camry. My 16 year old truck is still $120ish it was $2 less for the military discount.

Got plates on my new truck....$765 AFTER $60 pro-rated credit from my last truck....

that is INSANE. and I made my voice and displeasure very well known. I have had new trucks in the past and they were always around $500...but now over $800 is just asinine. She told me a new diesel she did this morning was over $1100.

I think it is time for Nebraska or Wyoming to get my registration money.

How much was registration and how much was sales tax?

um...that wasn't even sales tax. I paid that at the dealer. That was just the "fees" and ownership tax.

What really pissed me off and I voiced my great disappointment was the $10 a year E-470 tax. I was like...WTF, this is a private road that is paid for by people who decide to use it and not funded by the state and should not be paid for in any way shape or form with my tax dollars. fucking BS. She told me people east of I-25 pay this tax and it was voted in a few years ago. I said and I quote: "A lot of stupid people have been moving into our state and I wish they would go back".

In perspective.

I hate paying registration in this state every year. But, I moved here from Wisconsin 8 yrs ago. If you drove a truck, it was $75 and change, new or used. The kicker is they have way higher property taxes. I think this last yr we paid like $1700 in property taxes on our home in Berthoud. Back in Wis. that would've been double. Have the same home on a lake, triple. So yes you had lower vehicle reg but property taxes were way higher!

Guess we gotta pay our dues somewhere!!
