I have the MicroVault and it has worked flawlessly. I got it when my kid turned 1 too. 4 key code is quick and can be done in the dark. I haven't changed the batteries in the two years I have it (which reminds me, I should change them). But if they die, it has a key opening too.

PS, I like this one because I keep it in a drawer and it opens up. The ones with the front door that open down only work if stored on top of something
