    Default Nostalgic Build

Picked up an A2 upper in a trade the other day with the A2 sights and dust cover. Started getting a little nostalgic and decided a quasi period correct A2 build might be an interesting project.

An A1 is more appropriate for me, but never liked the triangular handguards or sights, so A2 it is.

Upper receiver is an DPMS upper with no forward assist, which is the reason behind the quasi correctness.

Rifle will just be a plinking toy and a symbol of my time in the gun club. Reliability is an important objective but sub-MOA accuracy is not. With iron sights and old eyes, expectation is keeping inside the 8 ring at 100 yards.

Another departure planned is to upgrade the trigger. I've become a big fan of Geisselle's SSA-E trigger, but may be a little much for a wall hanger/range rifle. RRA two stage trigger is another option, but still working through that.

Still working through the buy or build decision. I've built three ARs, so been there done that with ARs. Vanilla DPMS A2 build goes for a little shy of $750 at Buds but expect I can build it for less not counting my time.

Nothing that I'm aware of. Just part of what was in the trade along with a barrel nut.
