It sounds like he didn't have a holster, at least not a proper one.

One caller told police that seven to eight shots were fired in the theater, but police later determined only one shot was involved.

Pocket holster. I hate pocket holsters for doing things that involve sitting down. I wonder what kind of gun it is.

I have a pocket holster. It rigidly covers the whole trigger so adjusting it is no big deal, while in the holster. The thing I worry a bit about is drawing it in a stressful situation and reholstering. A lot of cops shoot themselves in the leg that way and I'm sure a fair number of civilians have.

A proper CCW holster won't let you touch the trigger.

That's pretty funny. Ultimately it sounds like he handled it okay. He should have just called the Police and said that he was en route to the hospital and that they could meet him there. I wonder if they will charge him with illegal discharge of a firearm?

Girlscouts? Hmmm, I don't know... I think it's kinda dangerous to teach young girls self esteem and leadership skills.

The other article I read said he dropped it. I hate not knowing what happened. Good lessons learned.

    That one did as well.
“The (man) was cooperative with police and admitted that his gun fell out of his pocket and when it hit the floor it discharged,” Dyer said in the police statement.
I call bullshit. He was adjusting it in his back pocket (likely holster-less) and pulled the trigger.

I'm just surprised they didn't say that he was toting an AK in the theater.
