. Once again the inside dimensions to mfg a decent not paper thin mag would not be a functioning one as the round would not fit.

They do make .308 mags that work in the DPMS pattern ARs.

Metal inserts in injection molded parts is a bit more complex from both an engineering and design perspective. While the design is probably workable for them, I doubt their vendors who do the IM for them have the automation and tooling capable of doing the metal inserts. Add to that a second vendor to manufacture the metal parts and deliver them to the IM vendor. MP would need an employee on site to do QC of the metal parts before release to the IM process. When all is said and done, the cost will be higher and the logistics will be more complicated.

When as a company you sell ALL the $2 magazines you can produce for $8 or so, why would you transfer resources to manufacture $6 magazines you can only sell for $15?

Any idea what the tooling costs are alone? Way expensive, I was talking to a gent I know that manages a large scale CNC facility. To re tool for a production run it can cost upwards of a million cash. Now figure what it is going to take to recoup those costs once production commences.
And we have not even considered R&D cost, mold making etc.

Not taking in to account this administration enacting another AWB. Imagine how much a loss any mfg that just started tooling up would loose.
