Default Why doesn't magpul make other mags?

I was talking to a friend of mine who is a former army ranger. We were talking about the M9 that standard troops use and complained to me about how the mags they used for their M9s often would malfunction. He explained to me that while on duty in Iraq and Afghanistan, he used pmags and told me about how reliable they were when he was overseas. He then posed the question: "Why doesn't magpul make mags for handguns, like the beretta. I thought for a minute and couldn't answer why either. Anyone have any input on this?

Very different engineering. In the case of pistol mags, the polymer that they use isn't strong enough without the addition of metal feed lips. When asked why they didn't make Pmags for other AR calibers like 6.5 and 6.8, they replied that they would have to make the walls of the magazines thinner and the polymer wouldn't be strong enough. Basically, they wouldn't be able to produce a product that would uphold their reputation, so they don't. I respect them for that.

That makes sense, Magpul is one of those companies that I do feel very comfortable buying products from. I love their stocks, mags, pistol grips, etc. I am glad to hear that if they couldn't do it right that they aren't going to do it. I knew about the 6.5 and 6.8 mags, but I was unaware of the pistol mags. I didn't realize they were that different.

I want to know why they aren't making replacement stocks for 10/22s. That's a huge market.

That's a great question. We should all email them asking for 10/22 stocks!

Now I'm no Rachel Ray but one would think it would be easy enough for them to make mags for the .556 ak,or any other mag for an ak.
    I'd be all over them!!
