Default Be quiet and lay down

    Brief background about our dog
Wife was looking to adopt the"perfect" dog. 2 years old trained on leash, house broken, kids, cats, blah blah blah. Not going to happen.
SURPRISE!!!!! We adopt a 1.5 year old healer mix female, was everything except spayed,
    Does yoga
    Cheap lawn ornament

Gentlest dog we ever had. We watched her one day screwing around with a spider, Literally pick it up between teeth w/out damaging it and moving from here to there
Now squirrels thats another story, stalks them like wiley coyote. Not move for 10-20 minutes till they feel safe in the yard

In the shop tonight when bam..........sound of a chase, chain link being hit, barking, going crazy All this from a dog who rarely barks if at all .Looks like we found something else she doesn't like
APOLOGIES FOR REAL POOR PIC QUALITY, I had to limp to the house grab camera and take pic

Yep Racoons!! She woke me up again 10 min ago , Barking, charging the door, all this from a dog who loves kids rolling around with her. So i have to sweep the yard b4 letting her out. A cornered coon will tear a dog into hamburger, not feeling like a drive to a vet this am.
    Thanks Mother Nature

Now to get a few more zzz' before range time.

    That's kinda funny.

My dog is the most docile being on the planet. Will be submissive towards anything... except squirrels.

She caught a hold of a squirrel by the tail once and was thrashing it around so much that the fur on the tail peeled off that section. My wife freaked out a bit because the little dachshund (yeah I've got a wiener-dog) was acting like a dog. She yelled and the dog let go. Squirrle ran fast while my dog was just sitting there with this, "Who, ME?" look on her face.

It's always awkward when something triggers that very base response.

Agree whole heartedly that a coon will tear up a dog.

I have met this dog and she is very well behaved. Walks by let's you pet her for a little bit and leaves(before Jim can ask her to "scram"). The real question is what are you going to do about he coons?

Nothing, outside of them using the property for a walk way, they're not bothering me, yet. She has been getting antsy around 11:30-little after midnight. So we'll keep her inside after 11pm.

Yeah she's a casual dog and friendly. Had some kids try and steel the tires off the truck. I let her out hoping she would go after them. What does she do??
Drags the floor jack over to them
