Default I don't know why this bugs me, but it does......

I just recently had a new neighbor move into the house that a scumbag was living in
since last fall. The new guy is a nice guy and is former military and Im not sure if he
is married or not. I met him the other day for the first time. He asked me about my military
service, I have Navy plates on my truck, and what I did, thenwithout me asking he readily
volunteered that he was SEAL and when I said I was in a BUD/S class and washed out, he had
an involuntary response of surpise and then dropped it almost immediatly.
To me, his reaction was his subconscious admission he is a liar.
It has been bugging me since then and I have no idea why as Im not the one who
has to make shit up when I tell stories of my military past.
Anyone else run into stuff like this and have the same irritation to people
who supposedly lie about their military careers?

Looks like that house attracts the scumbags.

Not so much with just military but just in general. I have a friend who just lies about everything, and it could be the most trivial thing. I usually just let him be, but it's funny to call him out on it.

I would call him out! Or is maybe because you washed out and he didn't know what to say about it? I would venture to guess he is lying but just be straight up and ask him. Tell him you want to see his DD214 (it didn't happen if not on here) so you can trust him and your new friend ship...

Perhaps he just felt bad for you and figured he would change the subject.

^^^ I use to get cops telling me how they tried to get in the Corps but couldn't or others in the Corps how they wanted to go into my field and failed. I would change the subject asap because I had no idea how to tell the cops and the others; what losers they were!

This was my first impression, bring up stuff someone who was in that position would know. See how he responds. If he cent answer he probably just has low self esteem, and wants to impress you.
