Question Talk to me about twist rate.

I've begun my AR22 build. I'm about to settle on a dedicated 22lr barrel, but today I hesitate. I'd also like to upgrade a 5.56 barrel I have. It's a 1:9. The dedicated 22s, are 1:16. Is there a noticeable difference between the performance of the two on 22 bullets. If I could kill both of the proverbial birds with a single Noveske stone, I'd like to.

You can shoot rimfire through a centerfire barrel but not the other way around. The inner diameter is different. .223 vs .224

If you want decent accuracy, go with a dedicated 22 upper like one from Nordic or Tactical Solutions.

If you just want to go bang for cheap, a chamber adaptor conversion will work. But you really have to clean the holy hell out of the gun before you shoot 223 ammo through it again.

Or just pick up a S&W 22 AR...

Thanks Hoser. If there is a difference in accuracy, I'll go dedicated 22lr.
