I'm trying to wait on bringing him around to meet people/other dogs until his training gets more solid. I want him to be well behaved enough before he gets into a situation with someone else's misbehaved dog or some kids that do not behave properly around dogs.

Well sleepless day 1 is under my belt. He has so much energy and trying to get him crate trained is not going smoothly. Working nights is rough with the little guy because when I come home he is ready to rumble. He sure is a pretty pup though!

Crate training is hard, have you tried a couple toys in his crate, we used the radio and also used a ticking alarm clock. Something about the rythimic ticking seemed to help for us when I was crate training.

Dogs are great, good luck with that handsome looking lab.

Enjoy 'em while they are little. My dogs still mean the world to me at 10/12 yrs old but the time before they are a year old is pretty fun.

Both my labs are crate trained, and it really helps. And, they both still sleep like that!

I'm of the philosophy to overwhelm the puppy with new experiences. Just stand and watch, even carry him. He'll learn by your behavior to be calm on a busy street corner or at a crazy dog park.

i'll agree that you need to get him the most experiences while he is a pup that you can. The more socialized you can get him the better, take him to stores with you, take him to meet friends kids, other dogs as many new things as possible that way they are not afraid of things when they grow up. If you going to shoot guns around him start out slowly with a cap gun in the other room while he is eating then mover closer and closer with time.

Update to this thread! My boy is growing like a weed! He is already over 20 pounds! He is cute as ever but is going through the biting stage. He is chewing my hands up!
