    Default Is it theft?

To eat some grapes at the supermarket with out buying the grapes?

Whole Foods has an armed cop at closing and I just watched him grab a couples grapes and eat them. Is it a big deal? Meh. Not really.

Do you eat grapes with no intention of buying any?

Anything eaten before paying for it is technically stealing - particularly items sold by weight!

At Costco today there were a swarm of people there just to eat the samples for lunch.

Yep theft. Any food, including bulk food is already paid for, eating that deprives the store of that sale. Now I am sure they allow customers and employees to sample items so they. An tell somebody how that item tastes.

I don't know how somebody would prosecute a person for eating bulk food, it's not like they weight him/person before they enter a store and it not like they would weigh them when they left to see how much food was actually consumed as well.

Unprofessional at best, but who knows how the super market is run.

I plan my trips to Costco around meal times. Am I a bad person?

Funny how people at sprouts eat in the bulk food isle, the employees also, and no one says a thing....

I eat a few grapes and then have to stop myself because your right, it is stealing.... Want to make sure they are good though, have bought grapes w/ out sampling and they have been squishy.

While that is my personal view, we are talking about 2 cents at most... on the trip to the grapes that I saw.
