That is not the "Museum". It is a museum. There are many excellent museums in the metro area. I have been very disappointed with it since they remodeled it. I will only go for special exhibits and even then I have lowered my expectations so I won't be disappointed. I generally love museums and will cut them a lot of slack just to see what they have but the Denver Museum of Nature and Science is a disappointment.

There are too many other great museums in this area to waste my time there.

OK rant off. I appologize for the negativity. I just look at as another example someone having too free tax money to spend it wisely. They took something great and turned into mediocrity.

If you get a chance, go to Cody Wyoming. I spent almost two days in there when they had a special firearms exhibit. I think it was the Colt collection but I didn't take any pics and the memory isn't so great. The number of serial number 1's and wooden prototypes....
Then there was the Remington art exhibit. Fricking awesome.

Maybe you could recommend these museums to us?
Whenever my wife asks me why I never wear pants around the house I simply remind her:

"A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.” - Winston Churchill

    The truth wears NO pants!

    Dinosaur Ridge in Morrison

Wings Over the Rockies Air and Space Museum in Denver

    Colorado Railroad Museum in Golden

Colorado School of Mines Geology Museum in Boulder

    Forney Transportation Museum in Denver

    Colorado History Museum in Denver

There are a lot of museums run by the cities and private entities in the metro area that are worth a visit. They are small enough that you can see them when you only have a couple hours.

Wikipedia has a list of museums in Colorado-

For about 10 years I lived 30 minutes from the museum. The Buffalo Bill/Remington Arms museum in Cody Wyoming. I spent a lot of my youth in that museum and learned so much about the west and firearms from there. I would highly recommend taking the family to that area for a vacation. So much to do. The rodeo, the museum, shootouts on the street in the evenings, parades, close enough to Yellowstone thay you can hop over there for a few days...great place to be a kid.
If you want peace, prepare for war.

Don't let a Mines Grad see you put their museum in Boulder! You might find your house all of a sudden sinking into the ground.
