Nope. No buying "sand". Plus, it isn't sand. Sand blasting will make a pretty rough surface and remove a bit of material as well. What I have access to is a glass bead cabinet. It uses glass beads. They leave the surface dull but smooth and don't really remove any material.

You would need the .308 tools though. Or we would have to take some time masking off everything we don't want blasted.

The 1911 I posted earlier started life looking like this...



Then I got bored and polished it...


Then I decided that was way too much bling and really showed fingerprints so I bead blasted it.

Bling bling baby................. its looks much better now.

I am not in to the high gloss bling bling stuff............specially on a work-horse firearm.

Now I have some decisions.................

Didja see that big black cabinet in the corner when you were here Skully?
That would be an industrial blast cabinet.
On the other bench is another big black thing that contains tools.
308 platform tools to be exact.
