[RANT] WHEN?

So as most of you know, I've finally decided that I don't want to someday take over for the old man and own the insurance agency. Not really my thing, and I'd rather make less money and be happy with what I do than be moderately wealthy and be miserable at my job. So I'm waiting for JCSO to have openings for the next Academy and become a deputy... but damn, this wait is killing me! For the time being I'm still here, slinging insurance, but I'm gonna go insane (thus ruining any chances of LE) if this keeps up.

It's mostly that chick that works for us... And no, my old man, being a republican, but knows how to play the role of "politically neutral" with others due to his standing in the community, will not fire her because she's a libtard. I don't get it, and maybe one of you older, wiser guys on here (or even younger, wiser) can help me out here. She's driving me up a wall! First, her cell phone rings constantly, when her friends/family don't call the office... her ring tone is some violin song and it's as if she's too stupid to realize that if you turn it to vibrate no one else has to hear it. Among other noises, she gets excited and, like a mentally handicapped kid I grew up with, doesn't know her volume! She talks so loud in such a small office that I cringe from it at least 4 times a day. Wanna send an email to a customer yesterday? Can't, she's practically yelling and I cannot focus.

Insult to injury- she's fat. And she keeps talking about how she's dieting, but I don't see how this works, she's stuffing her fatass face all day. Starts with breakfast when she comes in, then a post-breakfast snack about 30-45 min later, then lunch around noon, and then 1-2 more snacks in the afternoon before going home and having dinner. ???? No wonder you haven't lost any weight! Also she's been "sick" IIRC 40 days this year... I think. Dad's keeping track but seeing as how he's been owning this business for about 15 years or so and working here for 30, he's never fired anyone and probably won't start now. So she's taking advantage of his kindness! Bitch!

Then there is the worst... she's in her mid 40's, a woman, and "middle class" although I fail to see how she can be middle class when she live paycheck to paycheck (similar to me). She's all for Obama. I keep my politics to myself (mostly at the request of my father) in the office, so I can't help "inform" her of the correct way of thinking. Besides, I honestly believe she is just flat out too fucking dumb to even listen. We've discussed ObamaCare before and she's all for it... mainly because of her single-mom status and lack of insurance.

I swear guys, I'm probably going to lose my cool soon and I have no damn idea what I'm going to do when I finally snap, probably make her cry, and storm out of here. Should I start seeking out a new temporary job until I can get into the academy? Or should I just gut it out and just picture her face on the paper when I go to the range (No, I would never do anything to physically harm her, but calling her a fucktard/idiot is not out the question)? I wish I could just go to school, but I missed the registration deadline because of work and decided to hold off on school for a bit (since scheduling is tough right now). I really don't want to lose it, but dammit, I'm running out of options here... any helpful advice?

I probably have about 14 years of experience putting up with people that I cannot stand working with. You meet all sorts in the military. And thanks to the military will probably start looking for a new line of work due to medical issues after a deployment (TYVM for serving your country and getting shot at, and loosing your family because your wife could not live without cock for 1 year, now get out of the military).

All I can say is that what got me through was a focus on the mission at hand (in your case doing the best you can to benefit your family's business) while also keeping in mind that there is an out. Every month is closer to school (in my case every month is a month closer to me PCSing, or the people who bug the crap outta me PCSing). I would say keep your goals in life in mind in everything you do. There is a way out and you just have to stay the course.

Think of it as training in dealing with people you will have to deal with on a daily basis in the career you are seeking. You are no doubt going to have to deal with people that bug the crap out of you. The sooner you learn how to focus your energy into constructive results, the better cop you will become IMHO.

Well put! I think this is some very solid advice... I had to deal with stupid folks in the Army, but out of fear of my higher ups, I just swallowed it and dealt... I guess I could do the same here, except that I don't fear my father because I know I could beat him up, and he probably wouldn't fire me.
