    I regularly see bears in Yellowstone, but usually do so with plenty of bait - other tourists - between me and the bear. If you are camping in the park, then the handgun would be handy but I'd try the spray first just because there is no reason to kill one unless they are truly aggressive.

    Don't rent one of the little cabins they've got out there. Just saw some news article about people contracting a deadly virus while staying there. Two campers dead so far.

    +1! I love Teton. Yellowstone, meh... you are right, way too many people. But very beautiful nonetheless, both locations. The tourists (somehow Asians love Yellowstone) are just ridiculous... They're everywhere! Can't even see animals without wading through lookieloos.

    Might want to check and see if they are trying to burn it down, before you go. (Went there '03, seems they were havin' a fire. Couldn't go in.)

    If they are, head to Cody and hit the museum, The firearms part is more than worth three times what the trip costs.

    I love Yellowstone and the Tetons....

    FYI: The Tetons got their name from French Canadians fur tradder. Tetons is a derogative word for woman breast.....
