Not to mention, they asked my three different times before I signed every document and took the oath "No one coerced you or forced you to join, correct?"
Another thing I have to touch upon, and other SMs/vets might have seen this. In 2006 I left basic, got Christmas off, then in Jan '07 I went to AIT. Upon arriving and meeting with other soldiers who attended basic at different locations than my own, I learned of this concept called "the stress card." A soldier could pull this card at any time when the drill sergeants were being "too hard" on them, and causing them undo stress. I found this concept terrible, and deplorable. I quickly learned of two soldiers in our AIT platoon who had pulled this card in BCT and immediately informed them: "The Taliban won't stop shooting at you because you pull out a card and say 'excuse me Abdullah, you're causing me undo stress, you have to stop.' Soldier the fuck up."
The reason for the derail, my bet is that this soup-sandwich, sorry excuse for a soldier probably pulled out her stress card many times.Way to disgrace the uniform, bitch.
