Default The term "High Capacity Magazine/Clip"

Am I the only one who thinks this term is not beneficial to our way of life where firearms are concerned?

I think it is 100% a misnomer and we as law abiding citizens should stop using it
to add more fuel to the fire. This is also along with labeling any rifle wether an
AR15 or a bolt action with a picatanny rail on it an "Assualt" rifle.

Am I alone in this train of thought that it hurts us as firearm owners more than it helps?

I agree, I hate the term 'assault rifle'. I use battle rifle, and call the mag by number. Why should we help them by using their terminology?

The term Assault Rifle never really bothered me, I never thought about it. I do like Battle Rifle though but aren't those pretty close to the same? I also call out my mags usually by #. 13 round 15 round ect.

I just call them "Multi projectile zombie stoppers" instead of assault rifle.

Who are you guys talking to that you use terms like this?

An AR is an "AR" or a "carbine". (FYI- the term battle rifle usually refers to a non-sniper platform .308. I.e. an FAL or a SR-25 EMC)

A magazine is a magazine. I can't think of a reason I would use the term "high capacity magazine" unless I was mocking someone. For an AR, a 30rd magazine is standard capacity. For a G19, a 15rd magazine is standard capacity.

    It is irrelevant.

While legislators are stupid and will continue to use the wrong terminology, the lawyers who write gun control bills are not stupid and will make sure all bases are covered by using terms such as "ammunition feeding device."

I don't think Battle rifle is any better. The media will use it the same way as they do assault rifle... Why not just call a rifle a rifle, a carbine a carbine, and a magazine a magazine. (it's NOT A CLIP, by the way).

    It's all Obama's fault.

Oh sorry, we're not to play the blame game...
I agree with the general points here- my AR is an AR, or if you want to be more specific it's a 5.56mm, gas piston operated, semi automatic rifle based on the M4 Carbine. It holds 30-round composite P-MAG magazines.
Clip, assault rifle, and high capacity are just terms used to identify the person you are talking to is an idiot and doesn't have a basic grasp on firearms knowledge, thus you probably shouldn't even try arguing with them.

This ^^^^^ Every Hobby, every job has terms that the people know and I do not see them changing anytime soon. The word "clips" has been around since I was a kid and I do not see anyone changing it anytime soon.

Of course we could always get Washington to make a law to order the masses to only use the word "Magazine" and the word "Clip" punishable by a year in jail.

Please stop using "clip!" Clips do not have springs! Magazines have springs!

Clips load magazines, magazines load guns!

And yes, the Enbloc clip loaded an internal magazine!
