Default Choking!! Do you know what to do??

F**K!!! I got another break tonight!! Some one likes me?! I'm single, a Hunter, Fisherman. I eat a LOT of game meat, Elk, Deer, Rabbit, Beef, Etc. Etc.

Cooked a nice bone in NY Strip tonight. After 1/2 way through, sure enough. I started to choke!

Can't talk, can't breathe. Punching my self in the stomach, no help. Then I remembered my life saving lessons I learned from survival camp and school.

I grabbed a chair and thrust my self on the corner a couple of times, simulating the "Heimlich Maneuver" and sure enough. Out it came!!

FU*K. That was fun!!!! At least I didn't have to do a self Tracheotomy on me!! Which I know how to do.

If you are single or not, it would be a good idea to read up / Youtube some vids on how to save your self on choking!!!!!!!!!

Glad I'm still here with you folks. 911 call from the hills here is about 25 - 45 mins away!! FYI!

I have good neighbors, but a call and no talking they don't understand.

Clear your throat really hard, drink beer, clear throat again, reach down throat with fingers . . . no need to hump a chair unless you actually sucked that steak into your lungs. I would love to see youtube video of some Darwin candidate giving themselves a tracheotomy with a steak knife . . . and you wouldn't even need a mirror for that? Wow, that's badassed. I hope you at least splash yourself and the dirty steakknife with vodka first.

Odds are the meat is past the point that clearing the throat would do anything. People panic when choking. Drinking fluids? Where is that liquid gonna go? Back up and then you aspirate it- which is always nice for us to work on when to make it to the hospital. Fingers down throat? Blind sweeping isn't on the to do list these days.
You can't aspirate fluid if the airway is sealed as you state. Blind finger sweep to dislodge/remove bolus was standard CPR practice at one time. I have removed crap from people's throats with my fingers before and it is valid. If clearing the throat, attempting to wash down bolus with fluid, and finger sweep do not work . . . then alright, go hump that chair or perform a DIY tracheotomy without a kit or sterilization.

But maybe you should just chew your food better and try not to mess up the whole "eating steak" thing again in the future.

Blind finger sweeps are good if the FBAO is sitting in the back for oropharynx (back of the mouth), the patient is supine (on their back), and most likely unconscious. If they were conscious they would then spit it out. You are not sticking your finger down the throat (Esophagus or Trachea). If the FBAO is is in the Trachea the Heimlich is the treatment, if you are alone you must create the artificial cough and using a chair is the best way to do this. If the obstruction is in the Esophagus you are probably still able to move air, the Heimlich is limited in effectiveness in this situation, you may be able to work it up or down, if not seek medical attention.
