    Default Hi from Colorado Springs

    Hi,

I'm new to the forum and new to Colorado rifle shooting. I live down in the Springs and I'm looking for some new places to shoot.

I checked out Dragonman's this weekend; it's not my style but I did meet someone there who told me about the Comanche Nat'l Grassland. I'm going to have to make a trip out there. Do any of you all ever shoot there?

I don't currently own an AR-15; my primary rifle is an Accuracy International Arctic Warfare in .308.

    Chris

Welcome. I've never shot out at Comanche. However, you will find a plethora o shooting places available for all types and styles. Might not hurt to check out the range sites sticky as well. Enjoy!

Welcome from another Colorado Springs guy! Dragonman's can be convenient, but I don't think it is anyone's favorite place to shoot. Colorado literally has unlimited places to shoot, but it depends how far you are willing to drive.

I'm willing to make a longer drive if there's good tent camping around. I hope to get out to Comanche once I score some steel targets of my own. I've driven through that area before and I think that it would make for nice fall camping, though I don't know if ground fires are permitted out there--or if they're even a good idea.

Buena Vista is another possibility. I don't know if you can on site (or would want to), but there's so much great NF camping nearby.

I hope to make a shooting and camping weekend somewhere this month.
