Small Game Hunting on Private Land

Do you need a small game license to hunt (Coyote, Fox or Bobcat) on private land? Figured I would ask here to get a much quicker answer. Thanks guys!

When we did research, we concluded that you do not need a license to police critters to prevent destruction of your property. I know that's true for rabbits, squirrels, and p-doggies at least.

That is a somewhat gray area. You can shoot them for destruction of property, but you are not allowed to benefit in any other way. You shoot them and leave them lay. You can't eat them or harvest their furs. If you do have a license, bobcats must still be sealed with a DOW tag.

Your OWN private land or SOMEONE ELSE'S private land????
Even if I were to hunt small game on MY very own land, I'd sure buy a license just to play it safe.

As others have mentioned you may shoot them to protect livestock or if they are causeing damage to your property but you cannot keep the pelt if you don't have a license or they are out of season.

Since a small game license is only $21 for the year and $11 for a one day it is worth it to just get the license and know your are legal. Coyote season is year round, watch your dates on the other animals.
