How about congenital defects. In other words you are born with the defect. Now you have a pre existing condition with no recourse. I have seen neonates run through their entire life time of health insurance benefits before ever being discharged. Kinda sucks when you are in your twenties and need health insurance

    COVER COLORADO

    https://www.covercolorado.org/

    CoverColorado provides health insurance to
    individuals with pre-existing medical conditions.

If you have been denied health insurance due to a pre-existing medical condition, or have exhausted your COBRA benefits, we may be able to help. While CoverColorado is not a low income plan, this may be your best option if you are unable to obtain coverage elsewhere and can afford it.

CoverColorado also offers a Coordination of Benefits (COB) plan to those disabled individuals under age 65 who cannot purchase Medicare supplement policies outside the open enrollment period.

If you have a pre-existing medical condition and have been uninsured for at least six months, you may be eligible for GettingUSCovered, a new, comprehensive health plan created by the federal government.

Participants are not subject to a waiting period,so coverage for all health conditionsis available to qualified applicants upon approval into the plan.

    Yeah, sometimes, life kinda sucks.

The solution is not to drive up costs for everyone, that's a long-term way to make sure no one has health insurance.

The solution is to do what people used to do, that is, ask your neighbors, family, friends to help cover your costs. Healthcare is not a right; a doctor is not your slave, nor are your neighbors, if you get cancer.

Exactly. Our society is far away the most likely to come together to provide for someone in need, but it should never be forced by law.

Screw the healthcare issue (for now) EVERYTHING coming out of both sides AND their PAC's is doing nothing to address the economy, see -sawing fuel cost, and ILLEGAL Immigration [America's open invitation for terrorism]
Health care stood a SCOTUS litmus test and is still here.
Talk to me the voter cause i ain't hearing jack shit.

In 1956 Mitt Romney didn't deliver the paper to half his route. IF He didn't Deliver to 50% of the people then Who do you think he will not deliver to if elected??

In 1972 Barack Obama once again pulled the wool over someone's eyes. YET 50% of America wouldn't believe he's cheating on his wife, even if the sex tape went viral.
    That's how #$%^& we are.

I don't think anyone here is arguing the government should force insurance companies to cover pre existing. We are simply making the poor that the issue with pre existing conditions needs to be addressed. I am as far from a bleeding heart liberal as you can get but working in the health care field you see that for some it's not so easy as asking your friends and family. Example: sickle cell anemia patients probably have a "pain crisis" once or twice a year even when on meds. This puts them in the hospital for sometimes a week or more. I've seen the bill for one guy when working at university. It was around 40,000 for that week. Suppose his friends and family can pay for that? Pre existing conditions I actually feel like have a greater excuse to be partially covered by a government program for catastrophic costs than the poor. The costs associated with many pre existing conditions can be astronomical. In my opinion they need to have a way to put people with pre existing conditions on insurance policies for basic coverage and when catastrophic situations arise have Medicare or Medicaid cover them. You just need to have it where they have to pay into Medicaid or Medicare like 2k a year and then around 1k a year for private insurance for check ups, meds, etc.

i dont have health insurance because it is too expensive. if something happens or i get cancer, it is MY problem. i dont expect anyone to let me buy insurance once i know i have trouble. in most cases, people make a decision NOT to buy health insurance and then when something happens get all bent out of shape that they are denied for a pre-existing condition.
i could buy insurance, but i CHOOSE not to. while it is expensive, i could do it but i choose to spend my money on other things. i ran the numbers a few years ago and determined that while i had health insurance for most of my life it was NEVER cost effective. even with a couple of mri's, ct scans, spinal tap, pinned finger, a few er visits for stitches, and the occasional doctor visit, i would have been better off all those years just saving the money that i spent on the premiums.
since i stopped buying insurance, i am up a few thousand dollars. even with having to get stitches twice in the last year. i am saving about $320 per month, or $3840 per year. last year i spent about $1000 on health care, this year about $500 so for the last three years i am up about $10,000. now that much wont save me if i get cancer, it will cover most if not all other medical visits/ issues i might have. BUT other people choose not to have insurance, but instead have satellite tv, eat dinner out, have a new car, etc... and then when they have even a small problem, they have NO money to pay for it and then expect someone else to cover for their decision.

socialized medicine will be the death of the best health care system in the world. it may not have been perfect, but it was better than the rest of the world. why else would people from canada, britain, and other countries come here for treatments?

    clearly not
it covers almost everything and all you need is a rejection notice from another insurance company (easy to get)

so, no more whining about pre-existing conditions not being covered.
