    Default Help with an Upper

    http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/Produ...11std&CartID=1

    Hey guys,

I was thinking about getting the above upper for my build but I'm admittedly and newbie at this and want to make sure I don't screw something up. Besides sights, do I need anything else besides a lower(which is complete) to make that bad boy functional?

I was also considering the BCM EAG upper but if I can save a few bucks and get something just as nice(hopefully), I'd rather spend the difference on ammo.

    Thanks for the help.

BCM usually sells the BCG separately. Other than that and sights, just add lower.

I feel real dumb because I had been looking for that info all day and noticed it right after you posted.

Since the EAG comes with the BCG and sights would you recommend just doing that?

Also keep in mind that if you're going with a sub 16" bbl, a muzzle device will have to be perm-attached to bring it to a full 16" unless you have a stamped lower.

Yeah that part I've got down. I was just going to have them pin and weld the A2x to whatever upper I go with unless a Battlecomp is really worth the extra $100

Just get the 16" if they have them in stock or if your set on the 14.5 get a BattleComp permanently pinned on it. I have this set-up in lightweight and love it.

I looked at those a month or two back, but I went with this one instead. http://palmettostatearmory.com/index...ght-upper.html

Granted my efforts were to build a mid length lightweight rig on the cheap. Mine's mated with the cheapest lower around, a new frontier polymer lw-15. I put my oem trigger group in it from another build, swapped out the base plate for one with a sling adapter, added a tactical latch, and I was done. It's surprisingly solid and has 50 flawless/function check rounds through it. I'll be putting a thousand rounds through it in October (if not sooner) and I'll report back.

This. With web searching and or realize you can do an upper from used parts more cost effective, you can save money for mags and ammo.
Unless the bbl had 8-10K down the pipe you'll be hard pressed to get a crappy bbl.
I know a few members who have done complete, very cost effective rifles from used only items.

I ended up going with a different upper... HK MR556.

It was sold as an unfired upper but I can definitely smell some GSR on it and the sights have some paint rubbed off. I got a good enough deal on it that I'm not too worried.
