    Default What are people thinking?

Went into Ron Peterson's in Albuquerque last Saturday when I got back from my trip. We were over in one corner of the store, talking to one of the sales associates about a local club. About that time, there is a loud, sharp BANG from the opposite corner of the store...some guy had brought in an FN Five-Seven pistol and for some reason decided that pulling the trigger without clearing the weapon was a good idea. Fortunately he'd at least pointed it away from everyone.

There was just a thread about this sort of thing not long ago; but I'm still mystified as to why people always believe their gun is unloaded without even bothering to clear it!

Happens all the time in stores, that's why we insist that any openly carried pistol have an empty magwell and open slide while in the store. It's crazy how many idiots just have to pull their pistol to show us something or ask about some mod they made. If it's not obviously empty, we gently take it out of their hands and clear it. Happened yesterday that a man came off the range to show us his handgun and explain how great it was. He pulls it out, is waving it around for a second until our guy took it from him and cleared it. Clink goes the loaded cartridge on the glass countertop. "I thought it was empty, I counted 10 shots".

Blows me away that stuff like this happens in a retail environment. Some people just have more money then sense.

How did the store react? Hopefully the guy is never coming back.
